Tree Solo - a Tree Climbing/Dancing Adventure
A class series for all levels of experience and ability, based on walking, scouting and meeting beautiful trees in Hampstead Heath, finding a tree that you resonate with, and should it call to you, work on a ‘project’ or ‘performance’ with that tree. For example, we could spend the time contemplating and putting in focussed work on a challenging tree climb that’s suitable for YOU. Or imagine, practice and refine a sequence/route that you create.
The key is consistent exploration to get to know a tree, and through repetition - familiarity, confidence and creativity will grow.
Simply managing to climb the tree could be ‘the thing’, the usual challenge we associate with tree climbing - “can I get into and climb this tree”. Or it could be a specific route, sequence or choreographed dance.
Either can be challenging and personal to you as a project/performance. You will be guided through the process of finding and deciding upon a tree - a lovely process in itself walking, scouting and meeting beautiful trees in Hampstead Heath - and you’ll be supported through the steps to work away at your project/performance over 4 weekly classes.
The why you want to challenge or create, are hopefully something you will discover together with the group and the trees you visit. If you find your why, we can help with the how. The journey is more important than the destination though, and there is no obligation to have a ‘project’ or ‘performance’ at the end of the class serieis. Simply spending time in the woods will be marvellous as you are supported through the journey over 4 weekly classes.
By the end of the class series I hope you are closer to ‘walking further’ because you enjoy the walking more than the destination.

Finding the calling and meaning with a challenging task or an idea for a performance
Process/progressions for treeclimbing techniques and creative movement with trees
Focussed work on one tree climb or sequence/route
Principles behind risk and reward, risk and consequence.

A Collection of Tree Dances & Flows
One of the 3 main pillars for Move With The Trees is Tree Dancing (along with Tree Climbing and Tree Running). One of my favourite ways to move with a tree and explore, express and discover, is to dance with it.
