Arboreal locomotion: clinging and bridging

Clinging and bridging is one of the 5 forms of Arboreal Locomotion we categorise at @evolvemoveplay / @rafekelley. For me, it is a useful one to emphasis, not just for the perhaps obvious movement practice benefits but for the availability.

What do I mean? Well one of the most common questions/challenges Rafe/my fellow EMP coaches probably get when people either experience the amazing trees we have the privilege to climb and interact with or they see them via our posts is “That’s great guys… but I don’t have any amazing trees like that where I live”…

Enter bridging and clinging. It is much easier to find the sort of trees one would need to traverse across or even a single tree to practice positions and clinging in place. You will see them everywhere if you are looking (cultivating ones play-vision just takes practice or even just a little prompt).

So have a look! You are probably already walking past your next clinging/bridging challenge. 😃
