WAY OF THE OAK - SERiES of Classes

A 4-week cycle of weekly classes taken from the Move With Trees Practice. Dedicated to moving with, learning about and from the majestic Oaks of Hampstead Heath. Climbing, balancing, swinging, jumping and dancing with the most amazing oak trees ever! The oak speaks in a unique dialect that influences how we move with them, how we are affected by them, the deep history they carry and how we hold them in a special place in our hearts.

Moving with oaks:

  • Diverse movement. Exploring different forms of arboreal movement with links to our evolutionary past and relevance to our modern fitness and exercise endeavours. From balancing, quadrupedal movement, swinging, jumping and of course climbing.
Unique Dialogue. Immersion in the distinct dialect of how we climb and move with oak trees in general and with some of the most unique, accessible and fun Oak trees you will probably ever meet.

  • Creativity and guidance through different lenses and intentions when moving. Tree-climbing, nostalgic, empowering and nourishing with techniques you might find in bouldering and rock climbing but most importantly, techniques and scenarios that are unique to climbing trees.

  • Tree-running, using Natural Parkour techniques and mindset in the trees. Tree-dancing, leaning more towards the expressive elements of flow and emotive impulse. These lenses of course overlap and separating them serve the purpose of helping frame explorations and stimulus for creativity.

Learning from oaks

  • We will also take time to scout and ID different types of oak and take the opportunity to learn about this species.

  • Including historical, myth and folklore surrounding the Oak

  • Touching on crafts, working with and collecting from oaks.
