Body to Object practice

One of the segments in today’s Move with the Seasons group class focused on Body to Object practice - the exploration of manipulating and wielding an object or tool.

Today - after some Fighting Monkey Zero Forms practice and before moving with the trees - we took turns with three different objects/tools. Two types of @fightingmonkey_practice:

  • practice ball (homemade string & official elastic version) and,

  • speed tool and rope from @wayoftherope.

All can serve as great feedback tools and can be explored in structured or more abstract open exploration.

The speed tool and rope are particularly wonderful as feedback and amplification tools with the ability to cultivate observational and self correction qualities with practice. The practice ball, although often associated with partner practice, can provide some interesting self practice too. And even if you primarily want to use them communicating with a partner, why not practice your vocabulary with the tools so you can conversations with more dynamic range with your partners.
